Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is proud of its long tradition of improving the health and well-being of North Carolinians through innovative solutions to community health issues. We have provided financial support, volunteer hours and community involvement through our Community Relations Department to help build and keep communities healthy.

BCBSNC is a leader in delivering innovative health care products, services and information to more than 3.7 million members, including approximately 900,000 served on behalf of other Blue Plans. The company offers its members Blue Extras value-added programs, which provide discounts and information on a wide variety of health-related services at no additional cost.

North Carolinians have grown to rely on the reliability and stability of BCBSNC. For 75 years, our members have been confident that their medical expenses would be met, whether during a routine doctor's visit or in a serious medical emergency. We're proud to have earned our members' trust.

North Carolinians have responded to our efforts by making us one of the faster growing Blue Plans in the nation. BCBSNC has increased its membership by nearly 100 percent between 2000 and 2007 and now serves more than 3.7 million members.

Headquartered in Chapel Hill, BCBSNC serves all 100 North Carolina counties through customer service centers in Durham and Winston-Salem and regional offices in Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Hickory, Raleigh, and Wilmington. These local facilities help us serve our members better and faster.

BCBSNC currently employs nearly 4,700 people. We serve one in three North Carolinians. We have a tremendous impact on our state—more than many people realize.
